On the occasion of THE TIRE COLOGNE 2024, the representatives of the European retreading industry met in Cologne for this year’s BIPAVER General Assembly on June 5, 2024. EU Commissioner Paolo Tosoratti had announced himself as a spontaneous guest the day before, who answered the participants’ questions on the topic of “Label for retreaded tires”. The project has been dragging on for years and there is currently not much movement on it due to the upcoming elections to the European Parliament. The application to extend the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on Chinese truck tires continues to take its administrative course, but here too the mills grind slowly. Christoph Priewasser (Kraiburg, Austria) gave the participants an overview of the results of the last GRBP meeting in Geneva.
Regular elections to the Board of Directors were also held. As an unwritten law, BIPAVER has established a rotating system on the Board of Directors. Every two years, the deputy chairman changes to the position of chairman and a new deputy is elected. This time it was a little different, as the current deputy Chairman Carlo Hijzen (VACO, Netherlands) was not available for a further term of office. The meeting therefore unanimously elected the current Chairman Guido Gambassi (AIRP, Italy) for a further two years and Volker Nitz (FFRD, Denmark) was elected as the new Deputy Chairman.
The next BIPAVER General Assembly will take place at Autopromotec in Bologna in 2025.
