BIPAVER participates in the 2nd ESPR Stakeholder Meeting

On 8 June 2026, BIPAVER participated in the second Stakeholder Meeting of the Preparatory Study and Impact Assessment Support Study on Tyres under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

The meeting brought together representatives from the European Commission, the study consortium and stakeholders from across the tyre value chain to discuss the latest findings on life cycle assessment, substances of concern, design options and potential ecodesign requirements for tyres.

Particular attention was given to measures supporting circularity, including design for recycling, digital product information and options to strengthen tyre retreading. The study continues to recognise the important role of retreaded truck and bus tyres in extending product lifetime, reducing raw material consumption and contributing to the circular economy.

BIPAVER actively contributed to the discussions and will continue to engage with the European institutions and stakeholders to ensure that the forthcoming ESPR requirements fully recognise the environmental and economic benefits of tyre retreading.
